We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone.

Collecting your prescription

Your repeat prescription would take a minimum of 3 working days to process and we advise patients and nominated pharmacy to place their orders for Repeat medication no more than a week before they are due to run out, for example, if a 28 day supply, you can order from day 21.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
  • at your GP practice
  • at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Request for acute medication

A request for acute medication will take longer to assess and may only be issued at the GP’s discretion. You MUST provide a condition for which the medication is being requested to treat. Without this information, no prescription can be issued.

Non-urgent advice: Restrictions With Your Nominated Pharmacy

Please note you cannot request acute medication through your nominated pharmacy. If your nominated pharmacy put the request for acute medication, it will be rejected, and you will be asked to send the request directly to us by using AccuRx.

Non-urgent advice: Forgot to request a repeat prescription:

If you forget to obtain a prescription for repeat medication, you may be able to get help from your nominated pharmacy. Under the Urgent Provision of Repeat Medication Service, please speak to your nominated pharmacy for further information. If your pharmacy does not offer this service; then you can call NHS 111 where you can request details of a local pharmacy that provides the service.

You must then take with you to the relevant pharmacy, proof of both your identification and of your medication for example, your repeat prescription list or the empty box which should have your details printed on it. Please Note that Controlled drugs and Antibiotics are not provided through Urgent provision of Repeat medication service you will have to call NHS 111 for that.

If you are on Stoma products from appliance service or other supplier, please ensure you have sufficient supplies as you may encounter difficulties in obtaining these over the Bank Holidays or when the surgery is closed.
